Clients or potential clients often ask me what the most fast and effective way to loose fat is. And my answer either excites them or turns them away, looking at other coaches who promise quick and easy results.
I am sorry, (also not sorry) to break it to you. There is NO fast, quick and easy way around fat-loss, and if there is, then that way is not sustainable and you will not be able to maintain the fat-loss long term.
The thing about fat-loss that drives me absolutely crazy is you can lose fat in a short of amount of time, but then what? – then you stop your overly restricted fat-loss diet and you eat ‘normal’ (your normal) and then you gain it all back and probably in most cases gain even more back. – THIS is why I don’t really promote myself as a coach that specializes in fat-loss, there is so much CLUTTER in this industry, it’s overly saturated and full of BS. Honestly its all BS. If some incredible coach tells you they have the secret weapon to fat loss – I call BS. If they don’t talk about your lifestyle and the elements that make up your lifestyle – then stay away!
Diets promote yo-yo dieting, I’ve been there, I get it. Starting one diet after the next and your never really satisfied, in actual fact your probably miserable. I certainly was.
If your unsure what I mean about yo-yo dieting, its constantly being on a new diet, constantly restricting, unsustainable methods, over-exercising, taking fat-loss supplements – one vicious cycle. Clients often say – I have tried absolutely everything – and when I ask them to list what they have tried they only mention different diets they have tried. Keto, fasting, banting, plant based, juice fasting, 800 or 1200 calorie diets – to name a few. THESE IS NOT SUSTAINABLE.
Restricting certain nutrients, cutting down calories to extreme amounts, over-exercising – can cause so much havoc on your health, firstly your mental health takes a massive knock adding extra unnecessary stress, these extremes down regulates your hormones, completely shatters your relationship with food and your body! – We need to STOP searching for shortcuts, for instant gratification – extremes are not sustainable!
Ill say it again, (this time shouting) – EXTREMES ARE NOT SUSTAINABLE!
Changing your lifestyle takes time, getting fit takes time, losing weight and building muscle takes time, learning how to eat right in the right amount of portions with enough protein, carbs and fats, takes time. The best results come when you can sustain and maintain changes over time.
When I work with my clients we look at all aspects that need to change, I don’t give you a meal plan to follow step by step. Ill give you meal ideas and guidelines. I educate you, teach you how to plan meals, show you what foods are better suited to your goals and health, what exercises to incorporate – I teach you the impact of being more physically active through out the day, focusing on things like sleep and mindset to better handle stress and be able to function better.
This probably sounds like hard work and I get it – its easier to follow a meal plan with strict rules – but again this is not sustainable.
Fat-loss is more about your relationship with food and the lifestyle factors that contribute to a healthier happier you, rather than a rigid diet plan and over-exercising.
